These flowers are often found growing wild in open fields and meadows. They will also do well in any garden as long as they are given full sun and well-drained soil. Indian paintbrush is very tolerant of drought and poor soil conditions.

The flower gets its common name from the fact that it was once used by Native Americans to make blankets. The plant grows to be about two feet tall and has red and yellow flowers that bloom in the summertime.
